It's important to realise that in nearly all cases, websites need to be continually
updated. When a site visitor returns to your site, it's vital that the information he or she
sees is current, and ideally different to what was displayed on their previous visit. Many
people shy away from displaying highly perishable information (eg events, special offers where
there is only one of that item) on their site, but this is exactly what the web is best at,
especially compared with magazine advertising where by the time the magazine has printed,
some of the items may already be obsolete.
After launching a website, we would normally consult with the client to agree an ongoing programme
of regular monthly maintenance for the site. For example, a hotel may change their menu every three
months, whereas an estate agent may change their list of housing available every week. We set the
level of maintenance charge accordingly. Many have found that the necessity to provide up-to-date
information for the website, has sharpened their need to generate fresh promotional copy and other
materials in house - leading on to benefit them in other areas of activity too.
