At Room101, we recognised straight away that most companies have a certain amount of time-sensitive information which is core to their business. A camera store might have a rapidly changing list of second hand items for sale, a building society might change their mortgage interest rate several times a month, a corporate speaker might have a list of forthcoming appearances, and so on.

Keeping this information current is potentially very challenging, and some website owners opt not to include it, for fear that it might grow out of date too quickly. A website which lists events which have happened, or products which have sold out, can be a major problem.




Get the most up-to-date information to your customer

Room101 undertakes to help you keep the content of your website as up to date as possible, but with this key information, there's no substitute for taking control yourself. This is easier said than done however, because even if you possess some knowledge of HTML and web design software, doing it the "hard way" can take a long time, and there will undoubtedly be other demands on your time which are more pressing. Our response to this is to provide each of our clients with a password protected administration page, which can be called up in a normal web browser from ANY web connected computer. In the case of the corporate speaker, our self-updateable page will allow the client to use a simple web form (similar to an order form when you purchase online), which calls up the previous information and allows him to delete it, modify it, or add new data. Perhaps one event has changed venue, another has been cancelled, and a third event is to be repeated two weeks later due to popular demand. The website owner might be in the office, in an internet cafe, or in a meeting with a client - it's just as easy from wherever they happen to be.

To make all this happen, and to keep it dead simple to use, requires some careful programming by us behind the scenes. Each self-updateable page we create is unique - tailored to your precise requirements. We can enhance them later, perhaps the corporate speaker now wishes to put a website link for each speaking event, leading to the website of the venue at which they are speaking.

But generally speaking, once these self-updateable pages are set up, they can run smoothly for years, needing only to be supplied with current data by yourself or your colleagues. Because some needs are more complex than others, the cost of our self-updateable pages varies quite a bit, but the startup cost for something like this need be only around £100–£200.
